if it's avi file of about 300MB average, a 4.75 GB dvd disc will take in 10 episodes safely. you shouldn't cram it all the way till the edges of the dvd as data corruption is likely to take place there.
but then again if it's just for a quick copy then go ahead and shoot for 12 episodes. if you want a long term backup disc, then go for 10.
if it's an rmbv file you can squeeze in 24 or so.
