i have got to be the biggest idiot on Earth.
i was walking just now then i saw those
please-donate-to-the-poor-kids guys.
then i faster walk across the road
because i just cannot say no to them.
=(
then he walked across the road too!!!
then i walked faster,
praying that he won't come and approach me.
:(
but yeah,
he did.
and i got suckered into donating ten bucks
to some Malaysian Council thing.
does it exist?
its not that i dont want to donate
but *hello*
half of these things aren't even real lah.
i bet they're probably counting their money now
while laughing at the idiots that fell into their trap.
the worst thing is i can't say no
i always imagine that God would one day say to me
'sammie, you've had so many chances to donate to the poor
when these good-intentioned people approach you.
but you didnt..'
then *BAM*
i end up in hell.

dont donate. save the cash and donate it to an organisation you know is credible and is very public about how it spends its money. jesus said the poor is always with us, so save the cash and put it someplace you know will go make some unfortunate's life a little better.
i normally just walk quickly, dont maintain eye contact and give a curt "no thank you", smile if you have to but keep walking cuz i cant say no either.
please please NEVER donate to organisations that give you a "free souvenir" as a "token of appreciation" for your cash contribution. the bulk of what you donate goes into covering the cost of producing those bookmarks or whatever not, as well as into their own pockets, with only a small fraction going to the really needy.
yup, pb's curt "no thank you" should do the trick.

I'm well trained enough by adults not to donate. But I have friends who do because there could be real, sincere people who need help, and we should sometimes give people the benefit of the doubt.
Or, you could ask for their office number and address, then decided to donate later.
i know ppl want to be kind by giving others the benefit of the doubt but if they're giving money to feed bogus syndicates like these, it only encourages said bogus syndicates and what they do is indeed stealing from the poor, by reducing good intentioned but ignorant contributions that would've gone to real poor people who deserve it.
Ask for a card to check. But, true, it's a waste of time and petrol. Always better to donate to familiar and well known organizations.
don't donate to those that come table to table in asia n other kopitiams...duwanna deal with those that speak mandrin/canto, just say ur indon n duno how to speak chinese
